i tried to get internet set up with KTF on friday and they said they'd come to hook it up on saturday b/w 2 and 3. 3:00 came and went so i called them and asked what happened and they said its "impossible" that they could come at that time, after i repeatedly stated to them, "but you said you would come at that time." then they said they'd come today (sunday) b/w 5 and 6. i didnt believe they'd show up and sure enough, 6:00 came and went. after calling them several times and hearing that no english-speaking operators were working today i finally got a "technician" on the phone who could speak decent english, who told me first that they tried to come by my place at 2 and then after i said no, you told me you'd come at 5, she said their technicians dont work on sundays. excellent. evidently a web of deceptions.

anyway, is this typical behaviour from KTF? should i even expect that my internet will be hooked up this week?

Two weeks ago my KT modem was brought and installed the morning after the request. Perhaps the place you called was a bit busy or maybe you got a bad apple.

Installations and repairs are often done relatively promptly around here compared to the delays and bad service records of many companies back home.

You gotta put your foot down. You were being given the Korean lies run around. When the person comes tell them you don't want the service unless you get a discount.

really? would they actually give me a discount? seems surprising to me that they'd admit any mistake on their part

You'd probably get some sort of bonus. Koreans are pushy when it comes to stuff like that. If you don't get a discount just say sorry you don't want their service. Stand you up, stand them up.

Don't get me started on KTF. Evil or Very Mad
A month or so ago, I was having a problem where my phone line would just cut out for hours at a time during the evening.

The KTF man came in, lifted up the receiver, heard a dial tone, and said it wasn't broken. Then he proceeded to pull out a roll of black electrical tape and tape all my power cords and cables together, including the power cord to my notebook.

Of course, the evening roles around and the phone stops working. KTF has to come out again. They say the problem is the phone line is very bad. No kidding. That's why I called you.

It finally wound up taking me three tries to get it fixed. Evil or Very Mad

It also took them two tries to get my phone and internet hooked up right originally.

When I got my computer hooked up to the internet it took nearly two weeks. They said they were busy.

Then, the guy finally shows up and it takes him three hours. For the first two he insisted he wouldn't be able to do it because I don't have the right wires in my apartment. Then, just when hope was almost gone, somebody with a loud voice called him and told him how to hook it up and I was up an' running. Phew.

I shoulda got Hanaro Tongshin, does anybody have it? I hear it's great.

Really was a nice guy though and he let me practice a little Korean, which I always appreciate.

ohahakehte,
Perhaps, you are experiencing the "innovative customer-centered activities."

Since announcing "Good Time Management" in July 2003, KTF has continuously carried out innovative customer-centered activities in the field of service quality, customer support,...

Nice, demo! Laughing

I agree with everyone here, avoid KTF. Anyways, there are better out there and KTF doesn't have VDSL internet connection.
