So far I've used Supertots ( which I hated) Bingo Starter ( okay) Bingo 1 ( too confusing for the kids).
Does a decent Kindy book exist in your opinion?
Thanks,
SB

I've been fairly happy with Magic Time. Am using Magic Time 2 with an advanced kindergarten class, so I'm having to supplement heavily. (They already know most, if not all, the vocabulary.) But it provides a nice framework for theme instruction and gives them something to take home and show Mom and Dad without monopolizing too much of my instructional time. Oh, and there's a song or chant included with every single lesson -- a great way to break up other activities and once again let Mom and Dad hear their little darlings using English.

I've taught

Tiny Talk (c'est terriblah!)

New Parade- the book is too disjointed and full of crappy activities that require resources usually your school or you don't have.

Smile 1- This book should be burned.

Up & Away. Phonics mostly

By far though I think the AGR1- America Get Ready 1 is the best book to thelp the children to learn english. It focuses on the phonics of the letters and has lots of songs for the kids so they can get the meaning of the words etc. every class I have taught this book with has shown a good understanding of english when it is finished (two months 30 units a month)

good luck

PS We should all plot to kill Benny and Sue!

Amen to that. Tiny Talk is too boring for the kids, not to mention us. I've never contemplated suicide until I sat through the pattern practice for the "what time is it" unit.

Teddy's Train has good songs, but you will need to supplement the vocabulary because it is a bit thin.

Wake Up is good, but many schools don't like it because it's partially written by Koreans (go figure!). I had a lot of success with Balloons. Lots of chants and activities.

Thank you for all your comments. It doesn't sound like there's much choice as far as really good books go. Maybe the two bears need to get together? Smile

No one has mentioned it yet??

Dr. Suess

You would be amazed how many lessons (and really good ones too) you can make out his tiny little books. And the kiddies will love them.
