Today I don't seem to be able to pull in livejournal via my megapass account. Curiously I can get it via babelfish.altavisat.com. I use the translate url option (french to english so nothing gets translated).
Anyone else having problems?
I've noticed many undernet IRC servers block KT because of DOS attacks. Maybe something like this happened with LJ. Alternatively, maybe it has something to do with the Korean government's pledge yesterday to shut down access to sites that carry the beheading video. Interesting timing. Not that LJ carries that material, but who knows what would get caught up in the drift net. |

As a work around I've gone to http://babelfish.altavista.com and used the URL translation option to pull in www.livejournal.com. You might have to try a couple times (use French to English or maybe Chinese to English). You can then navigate within the frame. It's a bit slower that way. But you can update and read your friends pages. |

Babelfish was my own lame work around  There are better ones.
A couple problems is a) LJ is having its own problems, up 'n' down b) I think megapass and other major providers have cut off access to LJ because of the beheading thing. Why LJ, I don't know. One Korean friend who wasn't with megapass but another ISP couldn't reach the URL herself.
The best work around is use a proxy server. Google for "free proxy server". You should get a list. In your browser set up there is a tab or screen to set up a proxy server. Try various free proxy server DNS names and ports returned until you find one that works. If it doesn't seem to work, try reloading a few times as LJ is having its own technical problems.
Another user also suggested using: http://www.unipeak.com/ which is probably better to use than babelfish. |

| How ridiculous................ Its does seem to be an ISP block on Livejournal. What other sites are being blocked in the supposed free and democratic South Korea. |
