Transcripts are different from degrees. Transcripts are a listing of your grades in each course and are available any time from the university. They tend to be issued in sealed envelopes.

As far as I know the Gyeonggi do office is the only one that asks for transcripts so far.

The reason is that they want to know that the transcripts haven't been tampered with in any way. This is a standard request even to apply to grad school or what have you. Just get a new transcript from your school, they generally come sealed for this exact purpose.

In the case of my school a transcript is not considered "official" unless it is in a sealed school envelope with a signature across the back. I think it even has a stamp on it that says "not valid unless sealed" or something. Don't know how it is at other schools--but just contact your school and tell them you need a sealed transcript, and they should be able to send one right out to you.

yes, yes, and yes. Just tell the school how many you want. Have them send you ten at once if you want to. And be prepared to ask the school to send transcripts directly to some employers.

is this for immigration or the school?my school charges me for each time i need an additional copy! does it mean that after every job interview in which they go over my resume, b.a and transripts,a new sealed transcript has to be used?ooooh!! this could add up!! what about the opened one?is it just garbage or can i use it for the model as to say,"don't open it unless you really want to hire me.you can check this one before opening the sealed one!"? very odd!!

It's really for the school. And there's nothing odd about it.

It is standard to keep them sealed.

Karl, you don't need to send a sealed transcript for every application. The only thing you need the sealed/official transcript for is the visa process.

Just send your regular, unofficial transcript with all your applications to different schools. When you pick one you like, THEN you send the official transcript that will go to the immigration office.

No, the transcripts are for the school. Immigration in Seoul and Daejeon only asked for the degree. Dunno about other places.

I just applied for my visa (in Gyeonggi-do at that) and I wasn't asked for a sealed transcript. They just asked for a copy of my transcript, which I sent them myself. I was never asked for a sealed transcript from my school or immigration.

Same in Daegu, Ulsan, and Busan. Immigration doesn't give a rat's ass about your transcripts. They just need original or notarized degree, copy of contract, and photocopy of passport.

Transcripts are an individual request by your employer.

Someone with a legit 4 year degree from a real university would not care about this. My university charged me a whopping 7 dollars for sealed transcripts- Karl- isnt McDonalds hiring in your town? Perhaps you could be an asst manager with your fake degree! BTW, do you have a BA in french fry frying? If so you might want to try Burger King as their fries are better (IMO).

Transcripts DO NOT have to come in a sealed envelope.

They are for the schools use only and have nothing to do with immigration.

Send copies if they want an official set of my transcripts to peruse I will bring them with me and let them look over them/photocopy them but I do want them back they are my property and belong to me me ME!
