Anyone know Kid's College?

Anyone see anything wrong with that name?

Articles, people. That's all I ask.

Couldn't agree more. Even the wrong articles would be something. Complete absence of articles grates.

I know the rules are complicated. Anyone know any good lessons on articles?

Why do Korean teachers give the kids English names that they don't even know how to spell? I have a Jully, a Jacky, a Tomas (mind you that could be Polish), a Cen Shocked a Rori, and a girl named Joel.

Irks the crap outta me.

And the bank machine that says: "Take your receipt and so cash would be gotten out of the ATM." Evil or Very Mad

I have my favorite notebook that declares, "I'm a crap!" Makes me feel special every time I see it.

That one's my favourite. Makes me giggle everytime I'm at the ATM.

On the theme of names, I had a boy named Jennifer once.

Right now I have a boy with the popular English name, Jinny.

Some bad names indeed, or bad spellings.

But if that's what they want...?

Names like "Beckham" and "Eminem"

"Stephany" (she insisted on that spelling)

"Remix" "Ostin" (meant to be after "Stone Cold Steve Austin")

"Jeniffer" (usually spelled that way)

"Pocahantas" "Stick" "Stamp"

etc....

keep your eyes open when you are on the bus, a few days ago I was looking out the window when the bus just happened to stop by a street sign that read "Little Sisters of the Poop".

More often than not, it's the printer/lithographer that makes the mistakes.

I did the pamphlet for our school and when we got a sample back from the printer, he had made all kinds of mistakes....I corrected them, but even when we got our shipment, there was a new error.

The printers aren't careful enough, making proof-reading efforts in vain.

I would agree with this. I had to have my wedding invitations reprinted two times because they couldn't even copy what I had written out for them onto their computer.

I had a laugh, and a shock, when Ii, Ll, and the number 1 became interchangeable characters, for example!!! Shocked

On a side note though, there is a new school in town that has dubbed itself "Sori English". Everytime I see their bus, I kill myself laughing as I think of random encounters with people who only know how to say, "I'm sorry!". I can't believe they didn't think of this nuance in their school name. Laughing

Names???

Try "Skeletor."

We had a temp teacher (a member of this board, BTW) who named a kid Skeletor. Later, I got them to change his name to Jimmy, but the kid wanted to change it back to Skeletor. I think the parents were consulted on this and were told that Skeletor is not a common name for boys in America, so they eventually changed it to something else.

I do miss starting report cards with, "Skeletor is a good kid..."

We also have a kid named "Dumbo." We have tried in the past to get his parents to change his name, but they refuse. And it's not like they're not aware of its negative connotation, since his older sister is a genius and knows full well what his name means.

I guess it only balances my karma if I send my kid to a Korean language school and give him the Korean name "Babo."
