I heard today that life jackets and swimming caps are required in the pools. Is that correct? I've known how to swim well since I was a child and I would feel dorky sporting all that gear. Granted that fishing my blue corpse out of the wave pool wouldn't be all that glamorous but really, swimming caps!?
Also, what's the place like? Any horror stories? Will the kiddies harass me and point at my tattoos and beer belly? Should I bring my anti-"hello chorus" cattle prod? |

I never had to wear a life jacket, and people with short hair didn't have to wear caps, but the last time I went there was 3 years ago. |

it really depends when you go.
I usually go during the weekdays and early enough that there are not that many there. I've never had any problems with anyone bugging me. |

That's why you should wear the life vest... it'll help hide your beer belly (and in my case, my hairy chest and gut)
I went a few years ago and it wasn't nearly as bad as I had expected it to be. I think the kids are too busy running from ride to ride to pay much attention to others.
Unofrtunately, there will be a lot of ajjumas walking around in swimsuits... try to avert your eyes.

Swimming caps were mandatory for everyone last summer when I went. Even for me.... and my hair is uber short. Yeah, surprisingly I wasn't gawked at too much. Pretty fun overall and not a bad water park. Going there tomorrow if it is not raining... sadly the price went up to 45,000 yesterday. |

A group of buddies of mine went there and three of them shave their heads and have for years. The staff at Caribbean Bay told them they had to wear a cap! They refused and told the Caribbean Bay people to justify the reasoning of wearing a cap when the swimmer has no hair! The answer, "because everyone does it."
They went swimming anyway and had a good time just the same.
Early in the day is the best time to go! Very few people, no crowds, not many rug rats running around. |

Took my daughter to the Caribbean Bay just 3 weeks ago. We went on a Wednesday, but the place was still very crowded. Yes, the swimming caps are a must, we didn't have them and they wouldn't let us into the water. I had to buy a cap for my daughter (5,000 won at the gift shop there), but I didn't get one for myself and went into the pools anyway. When they tried to get me out, I'd pretend I didn't notice/hear/understand Korean, whatever - it was fun!
There was no staring - the kids are too busy with all the attractions. Just a few well meant "hellos" as we were floating down the "slow river" - all in good fun. I personally found the place just a bit boring (I have been to better aqua parks), but my 10-year-old had a great time. |

hey ya,
the life jackets are only for the wave pool I think. Once you see it yoy may be wanting one anyway. I found that on the slides I would actuall STOP halfway down and need to shimmy down to get out. It was like being born again...
The best time to go is when it's raining coz Koreans don't seem to like it. I think that they are worried about getting wet???!!!! I mean, hello? I went there a few years ago when it was raining and there was NO WAIT for the rides at all. Had a great time. Weekend could be different tho.
Be careful of the steps tho, I fell over and thought i'd broken my back (till I got up and ran to the next slide).

It's going to be crowded....I found out this morning that a huge group from Samsung is going. They only have to pay 2,000 for their tickets!!! Oh my goodness--what a good deal! They said it's normally 55,000. But this is all second-hand info, I've never been there.
It is supposed to rain all weekend, so maybe there will be fewer people. Have fun! |

Yes. Samsung owns the water park. Having a friend who works for Samsung and who can get you said tickets is sweet indeed.
maxxx, I'm pretty sure the life vest stuff is just for the wave pool. You do need a swimming cap, though. They've got a lot of necessities for rental there, but I'd recommend bringing a towel and swimming cap, and of course a swimsuit. |

Great idea... lets make everyone (even the ones that know how to swim) wear a life jacket, but to hell with putting kids in a car seat.
And I'm assuming the swim caps are to prevent hair and stuff in the filters... but it's an outdoor pool, stuff's gonna get in their anyway. And on a personal note, I'd rather make all the kids wear diapers than the cute girls wear swim caps if ya know what I mean. |

A couple of friends of mine took bandanas and were allowed to wear those instead of swimcaps. You only need the life vest if you're going into the deep part (2 meters) of the wave pool. Try to get there by 10 or 1030, and you won't have to worry about lines since most of the kiddies are still at school. After noon, though, it really gets packed, and kindof sucks. |

I'll be there with Zyzyfer tomorrow if anyone else wants to join us.
It could be the first ever 'Dave's ESL waterpark gathering'!!! |

If you like catching the wave in the wave pool, definitely go early in the morning. A lot of 'bumblebees' will stand facing the wave and just bob up and down, really annnoying when it's crowded trying to catch the wave, I actually broke my watch strap on someone's head! (I think) |

There's a waterslide that'll knock your socks off. It surprised the heck out of me. It's a big one, outdoors. You walk up stairs to it. Once up top there are two options. One is a twister sort of slide. The other you load yourself into a chute and say bye bye. The next thing you know it's bright light. You're out of the declining chute and thrown suddenly straight down in a half open chute. The moment of emerging into light and beginning free fall, the first time on this slide, is etched into my wet pants |
