Hi all. My first teaching job starts at the end of July where Im headed to Suwon! Im so excited! I have a question though:

I dont shave my legs or my pits. Yes, kind of gross but its a social statement etc Wink I dont want to stand out more than I already will in Korea so, do Korean women shave their pits and legs? If so, then, to my sisters delight, I will finally shave all this hair away. (plus good excuse for my hot date this friday Wink

Thanx so much!

Even though many Korean womn don't shave their legs, they seem to consider arm hair dirty. I had a woman on the street try to wax my arm( some kind of demo in front of a department store)
Considering I'm an blonde without much visible arm hair I thought that was a bit bsurd.

Most girls shave their arms and pits. But not all do.

If you dont want to, don't do it. But be prepared for some harassment by your kids.

My informal sample indicates that many do not and that those who do only do so after it's grown out quite a bit.

Talking about armpit hair, right?

I don't think Korea is the proper place to make social statements.

and for our Korean word for the day: wangtta.

As long as you wear a pitted-shirt (you know, covers the pits) and wear pants (or black p-hose), you'll be fine...then again, that would make the 'statement' moot.

I side with K-dragon, then again, I didn't always adhere to this advice....
