Dear friends,

My name is Brooks and I'm curious as if to whether or not anyone knows anything about Montesorri education in South Korea, if there are any English schools with that focus, and if anyone has any direct experience teaching in these schools.

This desire of mine to know comes from personal experience of discipline in a hogwon. I feel terrible punishing the children, and don't like this approach, but feel that it is so deeply ingrained.

I am looking to teach in a school that uses non-violent approaches such as Montesorri or Non-Violent Communication (by Marshall Rosenberg). If ANYONE out there knows anything at all, please post to this message.

Sad and isolated,

Brooks

I've seen quite a few locations around Korea. Most of them tend to be pre-school only, though. I've been told that they're primarily Korean pre-school as well, although I've seen one or two that appeared to have part-time English teachers. There's one in Yatap in Bundang (near Seoul) that I think has a foreign English teacher.

There is a Montesorri kindergarten here in Geochang. It was quite a surprise to see their bus chugging around. Smile
