Hello:

Does anyone have any information about a recruite (positve or negative) who goes by Don Park http://www.esia.biz/new/index.php. I would appreciate your feedback. Also, I am being offered a contract at the following:

Sisa Language Institute ECC Sung Dong

This EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT has been made by YBM Si-sa Language Institute; having its office at Moklim B/D 2F, 599, Kuui-dong, Kwangjin-gu, Seoul Korea.

Does anyone know about this particular school located at this address. I have been doing extensive research on this school and cannot find any information whatsoever. I have info on Sisa and YBM and ECC which seems to be adequate for the most part...nothing really bad. But, I am more interested in knowing if anyone has had experience with this school.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my inquiry.

Micah

Go to www.hagwonreport.com. I think you'll have to e-mail the operator, but he will get back fast with the results you want to know. He has a good amount of history about these hakwons...especially the franchise locations you have mentioned.

Good luck!

Wow...that is a great website. So far everything on this Hagwon has come clean. I spoke with the director last night and found out it is family owned and run for 8 successful years. I also spoke with the head teacher, an American who is in his 4th year contract with this same school. I have done extensive research on the internet regarding this ECC franchise and really cannot find any dirt whatsoever.

I am faxing the signed contract today. The pay seems good 2 Million with 18,000 overtime and the equilant of 96 hours a month. Also, a relocation bonus, trip to Japan and the head teacher told me my apt is in a newer, 3 yr old bldg that is clean. It is near the #2 subway as is in East Seoul.

My gut feeling is that I am one of those teachers that lucked out!

Happy to help, but kind of difficult to believe you didn't find anything negative about that chain. I have never worked for an ECC, but have read and heard my fair share of horror stories. Not trying to depress you! I wish you a good time there, and nothing less.
Some locations of chain hakwons are terrible, and some are exceptional. Sounds like you may be in one of the up-and-up locations.

Good luck to you, and I'm glad that website was a help...

Yes, you are right, there are some horror stories in regards to some of the ECC Franchise. However, like I said, I can find nothing on this particular franchise and everything seems to be on the up and up. I suppose I will really know the whole truth when I show the beginning of May. I have a positive outlook on life and I am sure attitude is 1/2 the battle in making it in Korea. Thanks for your reply!
