hi
iv been in seoul 4 months now. i lived in suwon for a year and fancied the change to adults teaching. i dont know if im being too picky about my job but i dont feel im finding enough heart in my teaching. teaching adults is cool but it seems a bit odd at my school.
i get 1.9 which seems reasonable enough and also get my housing which is sound. my boss is cool but totally hands off, completely detached from your teaching and im sure knows nothing about how to teach. in my classes its really unpredicatble.
an average class size is usually 5. many times though students dont show and i end up just teaching one student and going for a coffee. its kind of good in the sense its so ridiculously chilled out.
it can be cool when unusually i get one big class and it can be fun and exciting but much of the time i find it hard to really get into it due to such low and very unpredictable numbers and also the total lack of professionalism from the boss, although i must say is a totally nice guy who will sort out any room problems etc straight away.
dont know if im being too picky as i know theres loads of nightmare deals there and this isnt one of those. i just wondered about anyone else ut there teaching adults and how you felt about your school. ive heard my pay and getting my room also is quite good for adults as many just give a housing allowance which doesnt cover. i just think its really important to be feeling cool and positive about your work.
i feel this will be my last year in korea. in my first year i held out in a job which perhaps i regret in the sense of just not knowing more about korea. i like teaching adults. im just getting a feeling this year wiull just kind of drift by without really feeling that great and positive about my work like im really doing something good.
anyway, thanks for reading |
