Is it really easy for you or something? I really want to drag my hide back to Melbourne for a more permanent sojourn, but I currently don't see how to do it aside from studying. If, however, you can get permanent residency while studying, that would rock. |

You know, I can plan forever and still might have something totally change my plans. I actually considered returning to Korea, then thought about it and decided I'd probably regret going back with the same degree and same skills.
The thing is, though, I got a LOT of job offers when I applied with Korean firms in LA. The thing is, LA Koreans are a LOT harder to get along with in many ways than Koreans in Korea -- more petty, cliquish and backstabbing. But well, the sunny weather is a plus here, and my East Coast work ethic will help me.
That said, I'm gonna make my grad school education cheap as hell. A co-worker of mine got into USC law school but decided against it as that school costs your arm, leg, heart and brain.
Plus, it seems your advanced degree will take your farther in Asia than in the US. I met this guy who sold his TV to me while I was in Korea. He got his MBA from NYU and worked as a consultant for a time. He then quit his job as he hit a glass ceiling (it's harder to advance in biz in NY if you ain't white or Jewish or both, and yes, I know this ain't PC to say but all of my NY-based friends say this). He's gonna open a small pet store in downtown NY, and all this he could've done sans MBA. |
