Actually, you have it backwards. It's Canada that is very similar to America, and no, not terribly distinct in very many ways ...
|
How about the sporting culture, the weather, the Quebec issue, the lack of a serious military, public health, and the fact that it's generally a more liberal country? |

| thats probably a valid point, as america is mostly christian and at least the christians I know feel an obligation to protect jews, becasue judaism is the foundation of christianity. of course its also the foundation of islam but most muslims will deny this, Abraham being one of the common threads in all three religions, cant we all just get along! |
Really? Most muslims I talked to in the middle east were quite ready to volunteer this fact. |

Yeah, sure, but aside from that ... I mean, come on.
(I admit it - just doing a little fishing here ... )
By the way, kiwiboy, why didn't you object earlier, when the guy said America was similar to Canada? |

"It can only get better?" Do you have any honest adult Korean interactions? In my experience, the older a Korean gets, the more they blame America for whatever goes wrong. The blaming usually stops at around age 65, though this is because people over this age remember how much America has helped Korea, and that their brothers in the North are scavaging for food in the forests. |

It would be great to have all US forces withdraw from the Korean Penninsula! Let them resolve their own issues. Even now plans are in the making to reduce the forces by 1/3 by 2005. That will be the first major reduction.
Much of the world dislikes America! I hear more anti-American rhetoric from teachers than from students.
President Bush has not helped in postering America in a good light. Michael Moore works from the inside to draw a very cynical and evil picture of America. Also the world is leary of a country that seems to impose its policies on others.
Back to Korea, they can believe what they want! But when the US leaves it may be time to grow up. |
