I live in Bongcheon, one stop from both locations.
SNU station area has a lot of bars, WAH bar isn't too pricey, and the choice is good.
I think WAH bar is about five minutes walk from Exit #2.
Sillim, we go to once every couple of weeks, and we usually go to STING Bar, which is at exit #3 or #4, on the 3rd floor, above Happy Liquor Pia.
The owner knows us all quite well now, and he's a real nice bloke (we do spend a fair bit of wedge everytime we go in though!).
Apart from those two, you'll have to go and sniff anything out on your own I'm afraid.

I went to STING.. not bad.. went on a weekday though.. are there any foreigners that congregate their semi-regularly on weekends?

I found one bar x-club which i liked.. they had pitchers of beer for 8000 won which i liked.. and i liked the bar itself and the pretty waitresses..

Sting looked good.. i wish there were pitchers of beer though.. but its good too..

From what I can.. its a predominately Korean nightlife district.. not that many foreigners.. but I always end up in Shinchon/HongDae on weekends so difficult to know because of that..

If I could find a regular group of expats in someplace or another.. i wouldn't mind drinking there.. i love Shinchon/HongDae.. but its the distance thing.. sometimes i want to find a good place nearby as well.. Smile

Me and the missus have just bought a house in Nangok which is pretty close to Sillim station so we're in this general area.

Any more tips/pointers to decent nightlife in the area would be greatly appreciated Smile

I found myself generally going to the tradional haunts of Shinchon, HongDae, or Itaewon.

I never really found much in Shillim.. very very Korean. If you are with friends, you could pretty much take your pick and choose anywhere. But I don't know anywhere around here thats a good hangout or stands out from the rest of the pack..

Yeah, me and some folks have got semi-regular haunts in Gangnam, and tend to spend the rest of the time up at Hongdae/Sinchon or Itaewon if there's football on TV.

I was just curious as to whether there are some half-decent places to go with the missus, or even for a few quiet drinks. Smile

I do know a great place in Shillim to take the missus.. I just don't know the name.. but take her to the Shillim Rotary and go into all those bars.. its like a mini-Shinchon in there..

There is one bar that gives you very private booths and candlelight.. its kind of romantic.. just wish I could remember the name.. but if you walk around in there, there are all kinds of places to take your girl.

Shillim is good for that.. but not so good for finding a small group of foreigners who hangout in similar places on a regular basis.. although, there really should be a place like that.. or one we could make into that!!
