Is anyone travelling heading to Korea from Toronto or Detroit in the last week of July? I've taken a position in Gumi and it would be nice if I meet a travelling companion for the flight over. I'm not looking forward to spending that long on a plane. PM me or post to the thread and maybe we can co-ordinate our schedules.

I am heading over in 4 days, so I won't be sharing a flight, but I am from Waterloo and will be living in Seoul so if you are staying in Seoul let me know.

Embrace the independence of adulthood and go it alone.

If no one comes through, then consider booking a window seat on the right side on a flight with connections leaving Vancouver in the late afternoon. That way, you can do what I've done the last two times I've come: look at the gorgeous Alaskan coastline for an hour or so, then watch a film or two before sleeping the night away.

(It would be nice to have a travel buddy though.) Good luck whatever.

Nice. I'm not really afraid of flying, but I've always had bad luck. When I was doing my BA at UNB in Fredericton, NB I used to fly out of the airport there once a year, and on every return flight, something happened to the plane, from engine failures to uncontrolled landings with no flaps. It became kind of a joke among my friends, to the point where they all booked a different flight to a wedding we were all travelling to, just so they wouldn't end up in a plane crash. Smile

I've never been on a plane for more than 4 hours, and that was unpleasant. Thus the longing for company, although I guess I could just listen to the cd that came with my Learning Korean textbook.

ajgeddes, I'm not going to be in Seoul, but it would still be good to keep in touch.

I think you just blew any chance of finding a flight-buddy, LOL. Talk to the cabin crew, last time I was on a plane (1995) they were well worth the effort.

Bad things only ever happen flying into Fredericton. Flying anywhere else is no problem, but if you ever see my flying on the same plane as you to Fredericton, get off and take a later flight

Madtinkerer...

I hear you about the nervousness...

When I flew over, I met a lot of people at the airport that were teaching in asia...we kept eachother company, I'm sure you'll find the same...

BTW...I'm originally from KW too..HOME OF THE SECOND LARGEST OKTOBERFEST IN THE WORLD!!

Good luck!

Thanks for the few of you who contacted me. No one has the same schedule, but I'm sure I'll meet a few people on the plane since the flight was so cheap. Thank god for Northwest seat sales.
