Thanks Beav. How long do the downloads usually take? The last time I tried it was like 3 days. And is there any way to check if the movie will actually play before the download is completed?

No way to check.
If you want a faster download speed turn off the firewall on your internet connection (if you have zone alarm installed it won't matter). |

If I turn off my PC, will the download automatically resume when I turn it back on?

a part file will run in videolan, though, i must say, i don't check bit torrent files, cuz generally, bit torrent doesn't offer duds. put it this way... 95% of stuff works in videolan without any hassles

you need to check out the seed to d/l rate..
if there are 5 seeds and 500 d/ls it could take 2 weeks..
if there are 500 seeds and 5 d/ls it could take 2 hours..

The problem is that when I double click the Azureus icon, I get:
Quote: |
Fatal exception occurred. Program will exit. |
Any idea why, or what this means?

I think you need to install Java. |

Nothing I can think of. If you use the old bittorrent client you can download a copy of Azureus+Java update from suprnova -- that might do the trick. |

What does "problem connecting to tracker mean"?
I just tried downloading something from that site and that was the message.

it happens on both sites, more on youceff.. it means you need to register with the site whose user uploads the torrent..
it is free but a hassle.. just click another file of the same name.. a good option is to type into the search the file you are looking for.. it will then give you all options.. |

Uh, that's not a great idea! If your p2p client is slow due to your firewall, go to the FAQ's for that programme to learn what to due. It is usually the simple task of opening one or two TCP and UDP ports. BUT, leaving your computer open to the outside world by turning off your firewall isn't the best way to solve your problems
If you are looking for a good codec pack, look for the GordianKnot codec pack but when you are installing it, don't click the option for the divX install as it will load Gator (adware), onto your computer with it.

I've got a related, but slightly different, problem... I downloaded a movie via bittorrent, and the download actually shows up as a folder with five separate files. One file is an MSInfo document which won't open, two of the files are *.cue files (which I've never heard of before, and with which my computer doesn't know what to do), and the the other two files appear to be the actual data, since they're the two big ones -- AVG.update files. Computer doesn't recognize those, either. All the files appear to be part of a VCD -- at least, that's what the filenames say.
So I tried simply playing the files with various programs, which clearly didn't work.... also tried using Daemon (virtual CD drive program), which didn't work, either. So... now I turn to you all for advice. Any ideas? |
