Following up on a previous thread here about a Korean Blacklist surfers can add to automaticly....
I set a 'tester' up. Please come and have a look at it.
www.hogwan.com/blacklist

There is no rating ability set up yet, nor are the fonts tweaked.....
I also need to add a proper disclaimer, and more locations.
Either email your suggestions to me, or post them here if that's allowed.
email found on the website... I would be interested to know what you think and what could be added for the final version.

Thanks!

Don't make it so you have to register in order to make a complaint.

yeah, drop the registration thing.

It also looks like people are able to whitelist a school, so maybe you should change to the title of the page.

black & white list
school recommendations
The good, the bad, & the ugly hogwans
or some such thing....

I am looking at the permissions now to allow non-registered comments...I just worry about massive crap being inserted for a kick that would have to be deleted....
(ie: non related, posted by 'Eileen Dover' ...that sort of thing Very Happy )

Would you still add to the db if it required registrations?

I'm assuming you're working on it right now, as that link doesn't work.

I second the idea to stray away from any mention of a "blacklist" or a "whitelist" for that matter. Those terms are too loaded, and I'd like to see the site used for more than hakwan ratings. How about "veracity list" or something?

And personally, I think having to create a profile to post a comment is a good barrier to entry that will help keep out junky data.

WoW and Rand Al - why do you think registration should be dropped?

If I posted something bad about a school and they put pressure on Stunted Wookie since he has my name then it is possible that he may give that info to them. Anonymous posting allows me to freely say whatever I want.

And you need a disclaimer stating that the opinions are those of others, not yourself and that anything anyone says you are not liable for.

I never thought about that. I guess you're right on a certain level, but don't you think not setting any kind of barrier to entry will make the ratings useless? Any hakwan could give themselves 100 5-star ratings and put themselves at number one. It wouldn't take long for teachers to figure out the ballot box was being stuffed.
