I understood canuckteacher's situation just fine, including his being mistaken that he needed a letter of release even though he was finishing a contract. His school screwed him over once they found out he wasn't going to renew, so they ditched him short of finishing his contract to get out of paying him severence. I also understood his frustration with getting help in English for this problem. End of story. This was so hard to understand?

The level of petty navel-gazing/nit-picking by some of the posters on this thread is apalling. It's this kind of "gauntlet" attitude that makes people uncomfortable posting here so they leave.

It appears as if you read only the last page and not the entire thread. It started as a general rant (I know CT will probably chime in saying that it wasn't a rant, but in my opinion complaining without providing specifics and without a willingness to discuss qualifies as a rant) about not being able to find help in English and part of it was directed at a website that is run by a native speaker. A few people, myself included, disagreed with him. HollywoodAction pointed out that he has occasionally been unable to get help in English in Quebec. Next thing, CT accuses everybody of intolerance just because there's some disagreement and some questioning of whether or not he was communicating in a way that expressed his problem clearly. This was after I had apologized if any of my early comments had been harsh and before CT explained his situation.

I agree with what you wrote in your first paragraph and I think this would have been a much shorter thread if CT had explained his situation from the beginning.

I admit that around the end of page two of this thread I got annoyed by the false accusations of intolerance and the unwillingness to discuss in the "General Discussion Forum." I readily apologize for my tone on the third page of this thread.

However, I don't think anybody was running him through a "gauntlet," at least not until he started accusing people of "intolerance" simply for disagreeing with him on his general statements.

Also, I ended up pointing him to the right agency for resolving his complaint. Haven't gotten a thank you for that. I'm not expecting one, but....
