In Korea, there are the usual problems of shifts, Saturdays (yeah or nay), some hogwan owners who take off too many deductions (some, mind you) but the worst thing has now happened to me - I came back to Canada, did a short stint at a dishonest school, left - and now the school director (owner) is still using my name and qualifications in their advertising! Plus they actually falsely sign my full name to letters I have not written/seen and I am not even there anymore, not to mention that those letters contain false promises to students! I have told them to stop and they won't listen! I tell you, I have had enough and am ready to go back to Korea, where I had no such problems (I think this is fraud)!
I'm getting worried about the use of my name here by that dishonest school - their students are mostly Korean and I don't want a tarnished name in ESL. I'd like to make them stop falsely using my name/signing it before I head back but how can I do so without a lawyer? HELP!

Get a lawyer. Call the labor board. You have so many things you can do, be proactive. They've screwed you, screw 'em back.

I would contact the Better Business Bureau as a first step. This is also a serious violation of your rights. I would threaten legal action then pursue it. I would also seriously considering contacting local media and publishing the name of the institute and the institutes administrators/owners on this website and others.

Signing your name to a letter is against the law.

Call the police.

If you're in Korea, I'd contact the Cdn. Embassy and see what advice they have to give (if you're in Canada I'd contact the Korean Embassy). You might not get much of a response, but you'll never know until you try. It's a place to start, along with Kyle's BBB suggestion.

Yeah, back home you have actual ways to fight back against bad bosses. Here all you can do is leave Korea. Do as these guys all suggest and beat the tar out of them.
