Forget soju, dong-dongju, korean women, bars that don't close, the easy job with good pay, some decent foods etc... My new favorite thing about Korea is how many young men these days are sporting the "Mighty Mullet"
I've seen the:
"Billy Ray Mullet", (business on top, party on the back)
"Canadian Hockey Hair Mullet", (words can't explain)
"Queen Lattifah Mullet" (curly and nasty on top with slickly straightened hair going down ... although that lady was about 40, so maybe she just hasn't had a haircut in 15 years),
"Bono Early 1980's Mullet", (so much hair! SO MUCH HAIR!)
"Pat Benetar Mullet", (almost not really a mullet, but close enough ... same length through the top to back, a few inches above the shoulders)
"Wayne Campbell Mullet", (Just long and straight, BEAUTY!)
And on and on. Did I miss any there, feel free to add to the list.
These guys are awesome!!!
When I first started seeing them a few months ago I thought it was just a fluke, but now it seems like more and more twenty-something dudes are getting them done. 6 months and I'll be part of the club.
See what happens when people on this board defend Korean men for wearing pink and cosmetics ... the whole system falls apart |

Do you suppose the mullet is the result of mental retardation and the lack of an ability to give proper haircut instructions? |

I was trying to explain mullets to my students. They easily recognized the style but under a different local name. They started shouting "rocker! that's a rocker!" |

Hee hee hee....gotta love it.
Ray Bourque also had a hell of a haircut...mullet-style. Some sportswriter once said it looked like a postmoderm porcupine sitting on his head. Wiah I could find a pic of that! |

Korean Soccer Player Mullet - A mullet style worn by the famous Korean soccer star, Ahn Jung Hwan.
It's a nicely permed mullet worn by Korean men. A practical mullet because it has been know to protect the back of the neck from the sun's ultraviolet rays in the summer... |

Actually, I think Ahn Jung-hwan has a straight perm... I don't think I would call it a mullet.
A player who did have a mullet, however, was the goalkeeper of the Korean national team back in '98 (he was the back up keeper in 2002). If that wasn't bad enough, he had it dyed blonde.

ah i don't know... did you guys ever notice that the dudes who had mullets in 1988-1992 ended up all shaving their heads around 1996?
i argue that this paradigm shift dubs 'the shaved head' the new mullet.
also-notice how no hockey players have mustaches anymore? it used to be an important criterion for my participation in hockey pools - i had to have AT LEAST ONE dude on my team with a mustache. it's impossible now. |
