As someone looking for work in Korea, I have spent a great deal of time reading all of your posts and appreciate what I have read on here. What I would like to know is how men react to brunette North American women. Most discussions talked only of blond women, and I am curious. |

I wouldn't worry so much about it, unless your skin is also dark. And then yes, you casn still get a job here, though it may be a bit more difficult. |

i don't think it puts you at any disadvantage as someone else said. never hindered me any. if anything, it's better because i hear the blonds get hassled a lot more. |

I agree Brown hair usually = not russian. This is a good thing I think it gives you more respect on the street. And means that you're less likely to groped, or verbally abused by some guy who thinks that he can treat you like a piece of trash.
*Some* people that hire teachers prefer blondes. However if you're young, female and from a north american country then it's not really a big deal to score a job.
Also I had a bizzare experiences when I went out with someone who had barely been in the country a few weeks and whoever was serving us would always gravitate to her to do the ordering and seemed a bit taken a back that I would talk to them rather than them. I asked a korean teacher at school about it the next day and she said it was probably because she looked more korean than I did so naturally she would speak more korean than I. |

Thank you ladies, that was the kind of information I was looking for. Your firsthand experience is of benefit to everyone. |

Were you thinking of coloring your hair blond if it was to be such and advantage? |

It would seem, from the posts on here, that all blond women get mistaken for Russian whores. I was wondering if this extended to all North American women in general or just blonds. I'm sure the women understand that they would rather work in an environment when, even dressed conservatively, they are not mistaken for whores. |

I would react EXTREMELY positively.. as I absolutely adore and love BRUNETTE women.
I thought blondes were only popular in the 1970s and 1980s? Are they making a come-back in Canada and threatening the brunettes?
If so.. I am here for you. |

I am a Canadian brunette and still get asked of I am Russian. All the time. You develop a few choice words in response and keep walking.
..and sometimes they don't even bother asking before they start discussing prices... |

ummm not all blondes, I have a number of blonde friends who don't get asked. Height may be a factor too. I'm over 5 10 while most of my friends are somewhat vertically challenged. |
