|
|
I have a bunch of movies downloaded on the old computer and I would like to put them on cd.
Can anyone tell me what is the best way to do this? Can anyone recommend a good program to do this?
I'm not a tech head so the simpler the better
Thanx all |

If they're under 700MB and you're running XP, you cn right click and see "copy to CD:"
Easy as pie. |

It depends on what type of files you've dl'd.
What letters appear after the dot eg Movie.mov, Movie.wma, Movie.iso, Movie.nrg, Movie.cue, Movie.ogg etc.
Most likely you can just use any cd burning software and follow the instructions. What software do you have? Nero, EasyCD writer?
It's not difficult to do. I dl movies from bit torrent. Usually I select movies that have the words SVCD TELESYNC in the description. I dl'd I, Robot last Friday.
In that case I selected the very last .rar file from the list of all the files in the folder. I right clicked on it and selected unzip to I,Robot.
That gave me a new folder with a .cue and .bin file.
I did this for each CD file. CD1 and CD2. Sometimes I have CD3 as well.
I put a blank CD-R in the CDROM and opened Alcohol 120% which I like to use to burn movie CD's.
I selected the Image Burning Wizard from the menu.
It asked for the source file and I browsed to the .cue file.
Then I selected next.
Less than 3 minutes later I had CD1 of I, Robot that I can play on my DVD player. I labelled it immediately popped it into my DVD player to make sure the burn worked.
I think Nero or EasyCD writer are basically the same. I've used both at one time. You pick Image Burning or burn Image. Their CD burning wizards can be simple to follow.
If your movie files don't show up when you browse to the folder to select the source file then you may need other software to convert your file.
Never drag and drop. I don't think that works.
EDIT :If they are over 700?
Then you may need other software to halve or otherwise divide the movie.

You can get 800 mb discs. I think I saw 900 from Samsung but it's possible your CD-rom won't burn these beyond 700 mb. |

buy a DVD burner. A good one with 50 blank discs should cost you no more than 200K at Yongsan. Then it doens't matter what size the movies are, and if they are around the 700MB size, you will fit 6 per disc. label them neatly and you will have yourself a nice movie collection taking up very little space indeed.
if you don't want to go down that road, and have some movies bigger than 700MB, some programs (e.g Nero) will let you "overburn" which means they use every last millimeter of capacity available on the disc.
this can be slightly dangerous to your cd burner, as the nearer the edge it goes, the more likely there will be damage to the laser....every program will pre-warn you of the possibility of fubarbing your drive, but in my experience, it hasn't happened., but that doesn't mean it won't.
if you want to do it, go into Nero, click "Options" and on the "advanced" tab, there is a check box for overburning. if your drive doesn't recognise 800 or 900MB cd's (and many don't) try going to the maker's website and downloading a firmware upgrade, which is a program that updates the drive and let's it do more stuff. You should find instructions on the website how to deal with the firmware, but if not, give a shout here, and someone will help you out.
DVD burners are GREAT! Everyone should have one |

I bought an LG GSA 4120B Super Multi DVD Writer with double layer burning on DVD+R 8.5 GB discs for only 179,000 last Saturday. It came with Nero Express 6.0, Power DVD and Powerproducer Gold software. I got 10 LG DVD-R 4.7gb discs for 20,000. That's 200,000.
I didn't see any DL discs but I think they're going to be too expensive for awhile to backup DVD rentals. |
