Guys, when you finish a contract in Korea, heading back home, which documents do you ask your workplace for? My guess would be: 1. recommendation letter(s) and 2. a sort of tax document for tax filing back home. Is that all?

As for that second one, what should the format of such a tax doc be? I have been getting pay slips every month, but somehow I think it would be neater to get a 1-page "payment and tax" summary instead of bringing 12 pay slips, wouldn't it? Has anyone received such a summary? What's the format? What should be on it? Will it be good enough for tax filing back home? Thanks!

It seems nobody can readily answer your questions so here's a link to a site with some answers perhaps.

EFL Law Korean Tax Issues

Your local Korean tax office can probably tell you or show you what the tax form would look like. Somebody posted recently about getting a pamphlet from them.

Thank you, Dalton.

Has anyone asked their employer to give them a copy of their Taxation Certificate? On the EFL LAW site it's called a "Receipt for Wage & Salary Income Taxes Withholding" form. "It must be prepared at the end of your contract and is proof of Taxes to be paid to the KTO." (EFL LAW) Anyone ever received that?

Thanks for that link Dalton. I'm the first ever Overseas English teacher my school has hired and my employer was unsure how to ( genuinely) tax me and so forth as she wants to pay me in cash. That info was most useful! Very Happy
