My wife and I had a very rare night out without the kids (thanks mom-in-law) and decided we'd go to Outback for a couple of margaritas. The 'professional' served us our maragritas in a warm beer mug over cubes of ice. Was the dumbest looking and worst tasting margarita I've ever had. I was close to going behind the bar and making my own but my wife stopped me.
Just curious, are all Outback bartenders this clueless? |

Probably, but some of the waitresses are cool. When I told one I was from Australia, she sat down and asked me questions about it for about 2-3 minutes. She didn't have a *__*ing clue about Australia, and she worked in a place called the Outback Steakhouse. Anyway, the Alice Springs Chicken is yumelicious mum. |

I got a warm margarita that was orange in color from the Red Rock Cafe. Tasted okay. |

If I remember correctly, the margaritas at Outback in the States weren't the best either.
Funny you mentioned this now, though. A friend and I tried a new bar in our little hamlet last night. We were the only ones there, along with the cute bar agassi. She let me go behind the bar and make margaritas for all three of us. I also taught her some simple bottle flipping tricks.
Hmm... I saw in Seoul Classifieds that an Itaewon bar is looking for a western bartender for the weekends. Thinking about it. |

The BESTEST ever can be found at TGI Fridays in Gwangju. They also serve the "slush" version in glasses bigger than a soup bowl. Good value for money! |

When I worked at Chili's, we had one named after some weather phenomenon (like Hurricane, or something) that I love making whenever I can.
2 oz. fine gold Tequila
1/2 oz. Cointreau or Grand Marnier
Fill with sour mix
Dash of Rose's Lime Juice
Squeeze two lime wedges and an orange wedge and toss them in
Place something soft on the floor for when you eventually hit it.
Enjoy. |

Love TGI's margaritas & strawberry daquiris, but I ALWAYS remind them to put the spiced rum IN the drink. For some reason the Youido restaurant wants the customer to ask for it to be actually put IN the drink, like it's an option or something.
Whatever happened to 'margaritaville dan'? A very entertaining poster. |

I frequently take clients to the outback- I have been alarmed by behavior I have seen there as well-
So much so that I have googled for a refrence to the outback in Korea-
here is what I found...

Hazing is alive and well in Korea. Workers have exactly 1 right here. That is the right to stfu and take whatever management gives out. Guys getting full on kicked in the nuts, gals getting viciously group groped is NORMAL here. Case in point. Last night we hired 2 university gals. Now, as they are Korean, they are as lazy as hell and couldnt give a toss about the customers (strictly no tipping in Korea) at all. However this is a big US chain restaurantthat caters to Americans and Canadians over here. I wont name WHICH one but I am always telling to staff This is not really an Australian restaurant chain! Anyway these 2 are training and I can see the funs already started. Every time Miss Kim screws up the bartended pinches her nipple. No word of a lie! She looks down and says (in Korean) I am sorry, I am worthless. I see this and lose it- I walk right up to the bartended and kick him square in his balls. Down he goes. The Koreans know I wont put up with any bullshit. I go in the back and the fuckin male waiters are groping the living shit out of the other girl. Ugh.. Theres not too much I can do without having a staff revolt. We gross about 75 thousand USD a evening and the owners are keen to keep it this way. I spend my night soothing over frayed nerves and literally beating the staff. Servers here make (per night- remember tipping is not the custom nor is it practiced here) about 14 dollars per 10 hour shift. You cant make this stuff up. So what happened to the 2 girls? Miss nipple quit and Miss Lee was caught blowing 2 guys in the walk in. Business as usual! No rules! Just right! |
YUCK! |

In the walk-in? Nah, too cold for that. Harry has an interesting name, though. |

I can't believe what workers put up with here. Saturday's Herald had an article about fastfood workers.
http://www.koreaherald.co.kr/SITE/data/html_dir/2004/07/31/200407310028.asp
Here's a quote:
Quote: |
A youth identified only by the name Byun In-tae, who worked at a McDonald's franchise in Busan, said he did not receive payment. Although he worked at the fast food franchise from November 2001 to February 2004, he did not receive any salary, he said. |
Is this kid profoundly stupid or what? It took him two plus years to figure out something wasn't quite right? |
