Excellent advice all around.
Zyzyfer - I figured as much. I planned ahead and only booked 3 nights at the place in Samui which, incidently, is towards the southern end of Chaweng Beach and supposedly quite quiet even at this time of year. I figure a couple days of kicking back and i'll be ready to start scuba diving and exploring some of the smaller islands.
I was actually looking into places to stay in Koh Tao. Anything you'd recommend? What about Krabi?
I like those pics...I don't like seeing those baby strollers on the beach though. It just screams white trash.
As for eating korean food when i'm there -- the less i see/hear/think about korea/koreans the better. |

...and the second picture and there's probably a woman changing in one of those windows in the third. |

When I was there, I dived with Buddha View and they had a package deal where you dived with them and didn't have to pay for your place to stay; however, I heard that now they're not offering this deal. Moreover, Buddha View didn't send a thing or two to us after we finished our diving program and came back to Korea, so, while the experience was great, the aftermath wasn't.
Still, it's a good area of the beach. I forget the names of the beaches, but the main one where you get dropped off is pretty cramped and noisy. There's some isolated ones around the island, and then the area where I stayed was down in the southeastern part of the island. The nightlife isn't all that great on that beach, but if you're diving you probably won't be partying hard anyways. |
