I've been in Korea for about a month, and I have taken my time on signing a contract, though I did one of those English Camps! Pretty grueling!
What I wonder is how anyone can stand the temperatures and humidity here? I'm a little older and my body doesn't acclimate to different temperatures like the youngsters. Does much of the housing provided by schools include air conditioners? I feel like these temperatures are going to send me home to Oregon before I ever sign a contract! I'm in a home stay setting presently. It's a beautiful apartment, but no air conditioning. On top of that I've got a terrible cold! How do you deal with the heat?

It's not going to be hot for too much longer...maybe another month or so. As for A/C, my first two apartments didn't have it, but my second one had a good flow of air going through it, so I only needed a fan. My current apartment has a small A/C, but I tend to only use it when I'm going to bed.

My apartment for my first contract was in a brand new building with an air con and a clothes dryer. It was tiny, but those two features made it very comfy.

My new place didn't come with air con, but the school had a 50/50 deal so I only had to pay for half. Since I'm gonna be here for two years, it was worth it for me to put up the 400,000 won so I don't melt. Cool

No i don't and a fan is sufficient.

As Zyzyfer said, only about 1 more month(of that) like this and it will start cooling down.

I actually like this kind of heat, i would rather this over the frigging freezing cold winter.

We're regretting not getting it this year. The wife is stubborn, just talking about getting another fan and she says "It's just another month of heat!". Argh!!

Just another in list of reasons not to get married.

Girlfriend comes over and thinks it's cool to turn the A/C up to 20 but I lay the smack down and put it back to 18 (and I'd like to put it lower but the bastard don't go lower). If we were married I could just imagine the whining that would go on over the A/C.

I don't think a fan is sufficient. A lot of people I know cannot sleep with only a fan, as the humidity is too high.

I manage to sleep, but not well. During the day, however, if I should choose to leave the room that has a fan going in it, I get quite warm.

Zyz, because we care about you, an intervention is in order. Don't play with your life like that.

Beaver, are you Canadian? 18 degrees, man? Do you sleep with your windows open in the winter, too? Wink

We keep ours on 25-26, and we're sooo glad we have it.

By the way, if anyone's sticking around for next summer, we're selling it after this summer.
