I successfully downloaded the program this time and the colours were still wrong. I remember when I once reinstalled windows on the computer it said that if you partition the HD and run to versions of windows then some errors might occur. Maybe this is what happened on my computer. I think I will get my wife's friend to reinstall it and see if that works. The only time the colours in videos look right is if I play them in Quick Time. Unfortunately quick time can't play all file types.

i dunno mate. if they were working before and they aren't working now.. Rolling Eyes videolan plays everything, i'm thinking that if videolan can't properly play something that was playing before you might have a problem..

very strange indeed.

if it were my system, i'd just format and reinstall..

if that is an option, i'd suggest downloading a different copy of windows from bit torrent or winmx or the like or see if you can get a copy from somebody else...

copy what you need or want to your wifes partition and format away..

i'm not a massive expert with this sort of stuff but generally a format gets rid of my headaches.

give me 10 bucks + postage and i'll burn you a copy of mine.. mine is windows 2000 though (better than xp i think).

Finally got around to reinstalling windows xp. and that fixed the problem.

doing the installation isn't hard it just takes a lot of time. I switched a lot of files over to my wifes side of the computer and then moved them back once i finished reinstalling. Some of the files don't work right so I had to reinstall them.
I also have to bother downloading all the updates, which isn't hard just time consuming. I'm using a pirated verision and the registration code didn't work at first. Fortunately there is another thread on this topic so i looked it up and downloaded the program to change the key and then found a new key number. Took care of my problem. At first I wasn't sure the key changing program worked because once i entered the new key I would be taken back to the step where one is supposed to enter a code given by microsoft techsupport over the phone. However it did work and I was able to download the updates. Which is taking a long time.

Windows Sucks.

I finally downloaded it- had a file from E-donkey that had great video quality but wouldn't give me sound on any of my media players, no matter what I did.
Videolan did the trick though, and now I can see and hear "Ghost in the Shell: Innocence" in all its glory- thanks Wylde!
