Why don't I see any of the high capacity MP3 players for sale in most of the electronic stores. The only place I have seen ipods was yongsan in seoul. I have seen some Irivers in Ulsan, but they only have 258 or 512 mb memories.
Some months back I asked the guy at an Electro land why they didn't sell iPods. He said something about Korea making really good Mp3 players and having 30% of world sales of Mp3 players. Then I pointed out that iPods have much more memory and he said korean ones have that much memory too. Then I asked where were they and, of course, he didn't have any.
Sometimes i think this has to do with koreans protecting korean products from foriegn competition. |

WEll, I'd guess the lack of IiPODS would have to do with how rare Macs are here. It's pretty rare to see a Korean with one of the harddrive iRivers too, and they are localy made. |

If you want an iPod, you will have to go to the Mac stores. Anyone who wants to deal Mac stuff has to have a certain license.
The iRiver high-capacity drives are plentiful, as are a few Korean brand, flash-memory 1GB capacity MP3 players. |

i'm not really interested in getting an Mp3 player, I have my MD player and thats good enough for now.
I was just curious as to why they aren't popular here.
From the sounds of things back home Ipods, iRivers and their like are all the rage. But here mostly what you can only get are the ones with less than a gig memory. |
