I can understand what the original poster was saying. From what more expertised users say on the issue of quality of CDRs and DVDRs is that there is indeed a huge difference in quality and performance between brand names and specs beyond that. I learned all about this about a year back when I used to check in to www.vcdhelp.com alot.... they've always had huge discussions and ongoing recommendations on which cds/dvds to avoid to get. They get very technical, i.e. would buy only certain brands and THEN only ones that were made in certain countries, even ones that were made within a certain time period, etc. etc... They have many kinds of stories about cdr's konking out after a year and what not. If I remember correctly their favorite DVDRs were Ritek, but then there were "model numbers" and even they had to be certain colors, had to be made in Japan or USA, etc etc etc.... They hated Memorex with a passion from what I remember. But that's already a yr ago.
