the commuter wonder if the risk of catching something from the dirty, poorly managed and ill-equipped restrooms outweighs the urgency to use it. In such places complimentary toilet paper is rarely available so occupants must use any available substitute, namely pages from the daily newspaper. Inside the lavatory, newspaper sheets are scattered all over the floor absorbing all kinds of germs and bacteria that put the visitor at risk. Sometimes when I walk into one of these toilets I feel like vomiting from the horrible stench.

The bathrooms CAN be pretty bad. However, the worst bathrooms in East Asia have got to be in China. |

That's why most Koreans (and long term residents) carry their own paper with them (and gas stations sometimes give out free packs as "thank you" gifts). |

Jeezus, RR, if yer gonna pick on Korea at least do it for something worthy such as this:
'Gang of Four' Give Their All to Help Robert Kim
Quote of the story:
"However, the women said that the social disinterest in Robert Kim was even tougher to bear than their personal difficulties. Jang, who spends several hours a days managing her Daum café, said, "When I see how many people ask why they should become a member of the Robert Kim Sponsorship, it seems that social interest in Robert Kim is still low... Robert Kim still has three years left on probation, and even after that ends, Kim has been deprived of his livelihood, so citizen interest and encouragement are urgently demanded."
My God, end the probation for this convicted spy that even Koreans don't care about!
C'mon Real Reality--now this is news! |

In fact, the only stations where the public restrooms would pass the most forgiving public health inspections are those frequented by tourists such as the ones at the World Cup Stadium, Kyongbok Palace, Seoul City Hall, Chungjong-no, Kwanghwamun and a handful of others. |
