Hello Everyone,
Well, I'm coming to Seoul in mid September. I don't have a job yet. I plan on finding a job while in Seoul. I need to find a place to stay, and I hear that some hotels give big discounts if you stay for a month or more. I also hear there are studios that rent monthly, on a month-to-month basis. Is this true. Im looking for a cheap, clean place. I don't care how small it is as long as it doesn't have bugs and my stuff will be safe. I'll be out all day everyday looking for work. I've heard you can get places for 300,000 - 450,000 WON. If I can find a place that rents monthly or weekly in Seoul, that would be fantastic. Can anyone help me with this. sending me phone numbers etc. would be great. perhaps some of these guys speak English?
I hope to be in Central Seoul for my first month or two, while looking for work.
Please send help and advise. Thank you soooooooooooooo much! |

there a lot of korean 'boarding houses' near korean universities called Hasuks. They run from 300,000 and up and most include 2 meals a day.
Try using the search function looking for the word 'hasuk' |

I always recommend Homestay for your first few days: www.komestay.com is what I used.
I am thinking of posting something about coming here on your own. |

goshiwans are small as hell and don't have a very good reputation for cleanliness, mostly for broke students -- near uni's. it's just a bed/desk with shared bath. |

Inn daewon is 360,000 a month. when you get to the airport you can call and reserve a room for 20,000 or the dorm (four beds in there) for 15,000 a night. there's a kitchen, the landlady will wash your clothes, there's a central hangout area like a jungle it's so full of plants. about the table are foreign teachers, backpackers. very friendly and central. tvs with cable in the rooms. 738, 4308, or 735 7891, or hp 011 787 4308. it's totally cool drinking beer and yaking with fellow packers. at kwangwamun subway stop |
This place is still standing?? It was about to collapse back in 1997! Great place to score some weed tho.

It's still there. Could be ok this time of year. One night I was there last winter was -17 celcius and the floor was barely lukewarm. I don't know when they see fit to pump up the floor heating (-25?) probably hasn't worked since the war! |

do you know how clean Inn Daewon is? i cant stand bugs. dont care how small the place is, as long as it is bug free, pretty clean and secure (lockable doors). one window would be nice too.
they rent montly?? it doesn't say so in the Lonely Planet.
Do you think there would be availability issues right now? I fly in 10 days.
any advise?
Thank you very much |

Chronicpride-
Is that website only for the Seoul area? If so, how about the Busan area? There's got to be a lot of those things around the University, right?! Would the easiest way be to ask (even if I speak and understand NO Korean?)
Basically, I'm right next to Pusan University, and I'm looking for a goshiwan. Help would be appreciated. |

if you can want a room bigger than a closet and two meals cooked for you a day go for a hasuk over a goshiwon. |
