Well it hasn't been quite a week yet but it sure has been a ride.

I came to Korea with my girlfriend. After getting jacked-up by Air Canada for an extra $70 to get my surfboard to Toronto things ended up getting even more weird.

We had to spend an extra day in Toronto. (yuck)
In the check-in line I think I drove everyone crazy nicking them with my surfboard. When I got to the front of the Korean Air ticket line the ticket agent pointed at my surfboard and said "additional charge"...*sigh* I said sure..how much this time...he said..."Wait a minute..your lucky day...first class no charge..." Yippee we had been bumped up to graceland Smile

Our recruiter met us at the airport at 2:00 AM (Customs was a breeze..one-way ticket on a tourist visa and all...(6month stamp) Then the weirdness started full-force...the Koreans have been SUPER. Everyone has gone out of their way to help me. (lots of stories there) Smile

Apartment is fine. I am living with my girlfriend and her public school is paying the tab. The "job" my recruiter claimed to have for me didn't pan out. I'm pretty sure she was stringing me along so my GF wouldn't turn down the public school position...whatever. I am in Korea with a place to live, no rent to pay and enough money to live for 6 months...I will find a job before then. Smile

So on day two my GF had to make a visa run to Japan. The next day we spent together, then she was wisked off for 5 days "training". She didn't know she would be gone for 5 days Smile

I think it is easier to adapt to a new environment on your own. I think it ended up being a good thing.

One final bit of entertainment. Today, I got sick of looking at the dirt crusted window in our apartment. I decided I was going to break down and clean it...(after only a week...weird...) I was in my boxers, no tee-shirt.. 4th floor. Well, I sort of got into it and had to climb up on the railing to get the outside of the windows....hehe...I don't know if this poor old lady was more mortified of the bare hairy chest or the fact that she thought I was a jumper...I really did feel bad, but the look on her face was priceless. I think she was getting ready to try to catch me...
