I've taken a job at the 'Jung Chul' school in Cheongju. Does anybody know of this school? Also, can anybody tell me about Cheongju? I've never been there, so... whats it like? Fun? Clean?
Thanks. |

Jung Chul in Cheongju? If I remember correctly, I met a wicked Korean teacher in Seoul last year, who was working there. She had an asshole of a boyfriend, at the time. Don't know if she's there or not. I can't remember her name. Probably Jiyoon or something, knowing how Korea is with the over-use of names. Ask if any of the teachers remember meeting a Craig at Pancho's in Itaewon last year and PM me. I'll give you my Wookie Life Debt, if she's the same one, and will set you up with anything that you need during your stay in Korea. |

I used to work at a Jung Chul. there are over 300 of them in Korea(and probably 10 in Cheongju) so i have no idea what yours will be like, it will depend on your boss.
The cirriculum is a little boring and repetitive but a piece of piss to do. Good for a first timer. |

I was at the one near the Express Bus terminal, across from the new fire station in Gagyeon-dong. I worked there for more than a year - never paid on time, and I ended up taking my boss to the labour office once she owed me 6.5million and had made me redundant (not through my own fault). I got that money, and then sued her for another month's pay since I'd been let off without notice. With regard to the quality of education there, not great - but that could've just been my school. Just before I finished there, a new solely computer-based/tv screen-based programme was introduced - constant repitition and no time for the kids to come up with their own sentences...classes were just 25 minutes with that system. Other than that, I think the problems at the hagwon were no different than any other. Cheongju is a cool place, and there's a good crowd down there still - I have since moved up to Seoul. Concerning the previous poster: you don't mean Jiyeon, do you? Can't remember if she was at JungChol or not, but she had a boyfriend from NZ called Andrew, she went there with him, and they later returned to Cheongju to teach, but he cheated on her with another Korean teacher - they were all at the same school...This Jiyeon still lives in Cheongju, but is up in Seoul on the weekends for an arline stewardess course, from memory.... |

No, she worked at a hogwan and was dating a GS who worked on the base. I'm not even sure if her name was Jiyeon, but it was one of those popular Korean girl's names. It was a long while ago, so... |

GS who worked on the base? There isn't one in CJ. Closest thing to it would be the airforce academy. |

Let me clarify all the Cheongju gossip going on here...

JiYeon and Andrew didn't work at a JungChul... they worked in Sachang-Dong at a non-franchised institute.. and he didn't cheat with another teacher, and yes, she is now dating a Canuck..

I know most people who work on the base and I'm guessing you're talking about the girl who is now MARRIED to the Northern Irish guy.. her name isn't JiYeon either...

Hey - I stand by that story - I was told directly by Jiyeon with our shared friends there - whether or not she was telling the truth or not is another story, but don't go around saying that I was making stuff up before you know me. I knew both Jiyeon and Andrew quite well before they split, so give me a break already
Quote: |
and he didn't cheat with another teacher, well that wasn't the main reason they broke up anyways, |
...you just contradicted yourself...

...sorry , that wasn't actually nasty-intentional - I just wanted to identfy if we knew the same Jiyeon in Cheongju or not...apologies...[/quote] |

I'm not the only KAFA who reads this thing. I think some of you should be more discreet. |
