I got some videos sent over from Australia for me (Australian Football just in case you are curious), grabbed a beer and some pizza, but they didn't work. All I can see is static lines and hear the commentators talking a hell of a lot faster than ususal.

My father taped them, and he tells me he did it on SP (slow play) mode.

Anyone else, particularly Australians with the same problem, have any idea on how to fix it?

Quick note: A VCR at work has SP/LP functions. Can I hook the two VCR's together and re-tape them to make them work? Just a thought...

Australia uses PAL and Korea uses NTSC. You need a different machine to watch that video.

FWIW, I highly recommend the Samsung SV 5000W which solves all such problems for me and I intend to take with me wherever I travel in this big wide world of ours.

Also, to add to Beaver's comment, simply getting a machine that can output PAL video will not do you much good if your TV cannot also take that input. You need a VCR that can convert PAL to NTSC and output that for a normal TV here.

Ahhhhhh!!!

Why is everything so difficult in this country!?!?!? Mad

Thanks for the help. I'll look into that stuff and see how it goes.

Anybody else with ideas, or is this the gospel?

One idea. Get the folks back home to put it on VCD or at least as an MPEG. Then you can watch it on a computer.

In my hometown (Vancouver) there's plenty of international electronics stores that will redub from PAL to NTSC and vice versa for a few bucks. Perhaps they have such a thing here. If not, you should be able to get your dad to have the tapes dubbed on his side.

Where are you and how desperate are you? I have a converter and if you bring your VCR along with the original and a spare tape to my place, I'll do it for you though I don't have time to do it while u wait unfortunately...

Obviously this is a one off solution if you are going to die shortly if you don't see any Ozzy Rules...

Nah, I'm not going to die anytime soon. My American housemate wanted to watch it before he left Korea. Not to worry.

I might check out that redub option at Yongsan, perhaps.

Thanks for the help.
