OK so I figure either I or someone else must have trodden on my phone as I've cracked the LCD, I guess its time for a new phone. The problem is my phone was provided by the school and my bill goes straight there. Can I go to a LG phone store and just buy a new handset and have my old number transferred onto it? How much do low end handsets cost in Korea? (I literally make a phonecall once in a blue moon and have a nice PDA which does all of the bells & whistles stuff people seem excited about their phones doing). What documentation will I need to take with me to get my number transferred given that the phone was issued by the school and so is not in my name? Any help gratefully recieved (will even trade it for a Gmail invite ^_^). |

Sorry Bunny....not ignoring the post, but I haven't a clue. My wife takes care of our cellphones...I just reap the benefits...head cancer, high costs, annoying ringtones, etc... |

Hi there, I have a cellphone thats an 019 number. Its linked to my directors home no. so the bill goes through her.
Because of this the phone doesn't actually have a sim card in it, does anyone know if its possible for me to transfer the number to another unit, and how I would go about doing it?
Thanks...

It'll have to be an LG telphone, but yes the # is transferable. I've had my 019# applied to three phones so far. All you need to do is go to an LG telecom shop.

They don't use sim cards in korea, you actually have to go to a phone store and register a new phone. A good store will also transfer or give you a printout of you address book and settings.

its cheaper to buy phones on the net rather than buying it offline.
Itll probably be about 100,000 for a basic color phone without a camera. |

Bunny, howabout this: Just tell the boss you broke the phone and want to get another one. It is as simple as that. Maybe it can be fixed. As long as u just say u will pay for it, its not a big deal. Good luck. |

Exactly what I was going to suggest. Korea has excellent warrantyservices so see if your phone can be fixed. If it's not covered by warranty, it'll probably be pretty cheap to fix anyway. If you want to change phones, it is really easy. Just go with your boss and they will just transfer your number over. You will have to reprogram your phone list so ask them for a printout of your phone list while you are in the store.
BTW, sim cards are a European manifestation. They don't have them in Korea. If you want to transfer settings and address books, you have to do it the old fashionned way here. |

I agree you should tell your boss, but I don't agree that warranties here are good or it would be cheap to fix. My friend bought a new phone last year and the LCD broke last month. His warranty was for only a few months and was told it would cost over 200,000 to fix it. He ended up buying a new phone. |
