I have adspider installed and it keeps popping up and telling me to remove the same 7 bugs over and over again then it tries to change my home page to redbug.co.kr.

what to do about this?

I don't know, but my wife keeps going to a Korean website (probably the on-line go-stop one or one of the streaming music ones) which keeps on stealthily installing a 'My Keyword' on the computer, in spite of the fact that I'm running a router (firmware) firewall, a software firewall, Norton a/v (or AVG depending on which pc she uses), and Spybot's Auto-immunize all turned on. It uninstalls easily enough but it keeps coming back every so often (my wife is a go-stop/k-pop addict, so avoiding the sites is not an option).

I've just told Zone Alarm (the software firewall) to never let it transmit and now I just ignore it, but I would love to get rid of it once and for all...

Doesn't the Spybot Tea-timer application catch the installation of the bug? You can check a box to have it remember whether or not to let it get installed.

I should have mentioned I'm not using the latest version of Spybot (i.e. I have the auto-immunize, but I don't have the tea-timer functionality) as I heard stories of compatibility issues with it and various programs...

DU'OH!

...perhaps this is the impetus that will see me switching over to the latest version.

Using ie, perhaps? Sounds like an Active x thing. Have you tried turning off active x, or using Firefox?

Okay, I've gone up to Spybot 1.3.

Downloaded Firefox donkey's ages ago and never got around to trying it out but that will change forthwith.

I should have noted that of my two computers spyware showed up on the XP machine and not the W2Kpro one...

Then I recommend uninstalling that version and getting a fresh one from their website. They create new builds fairly quickly and there was a security patch on a pretty recent version that you should have...

If somebody ( or Matrix-styled BOT program Twisted Evil ) REALLY wants to spy on me, record my keystrokes & clicks of the mouse, they can do it from here: a PC Bang.

Think "Thought" Crime.

I think it is much more likely to have security problems with a BC Bang computer. Didn't your mother ever tell you not to trust the computers of strangers? Wink
