There are many, but the people are the best comapared to other boards. I think maybe because most of us are a little worldly.

The moderators do a good job preventing people getting too carried away.

For the most part, it's a great place for us lost souls to have a good discussion and too even vent and rant.

Looking forward to other thoughts.

Thank you Dave. It's a great cafe. How about a refill. And make it a decaf.

I like this board because while it is moderated it is still pretty open. I quit dave's for awhile and went to another board WITHOUT ANY MODERATION. It got ugly to say the least, me included.

I am happy that the foul language and personal insults are kept at civil level. Shocked I can have a good scrap here and it is never allowed to degenrate to a mud slinging contest.

I feel bad for the guy who set up one of the other boards. It has been hijacked by foul mouthed really bitter people. Too bad because I think the guy who started it had good intentions. What is funny is several posters on one of the other boards does very little except call people here foul disgusting names. Totally obessed with this board. (go figure)

Anyway most the time it is fair. (except when the mods disagree with ME) Twisted Evil

Hope it stays that way.

Jade

Thanks...

I also like this board because of the livelyness of the interaction and the fact that for the most part everyone gets along even when we disagree politically or ideologically. witness the two successful gatherings we have had.

As for Jades comments about that other board I agree totally, far too foul-mouthed. I took one glance about 2 years ago and left.

I agree with jade on the quality of the mods here, and the absurd waste of time provided by the alternative venues - the ones that are not as she described are simply moribund and mostly inactive.

Kudos to the mods for being regular folk, most of them volunteering their efforts and most of them peers and colleagues here in the ROK teaching community. On the old board, the mods seemed to be people in California, hired guns no doubt, and were happy to delete huge threads that had demonstrated their interest value by provoking debate, merely perhaps on the hunch that the debate could get ugly. The ones here - others will disagree - I've found them easy to talk to and reason with by pm and on the board itself. There does seem to be a willingness to allow the posters themselves to make the biggest contributions as to how the whole thing will create itself ...

And we do like to argue here, me perhaps especially. A board that can strike this middle ground between offensive anarchy and boring safeness - yeah, just my cup of tea.

At first the change to format seemed a change for the worse to me, but now it seems better. And having a stable identity, where you know perhaps some people out there know who you are, does tend to make you dislodge personas and be more real, in my opinion. And this is a good and lively board. I rarely even look at the the international one as it seems lame by comparison. By the way Bobster, what's up? Been a while dude. I'm in Seoul and jobless and homeless at the moment. That should change soon enough before hunger sets in...

And another good thing, there seems to be a new drama every month or so so things never get too stale. If someone's not morphing into the *beep* of Babylon they're working with Al Quaida and North Korean agents to bring down the entire internet. And there's always new people coming on bringing fresh blood, and strange new ways to get schooled. I notice some freaks have even started to post poetry, goddamn liberals with their useless arts degrees, least they give me something to take pot shots at though.

OK, I admit it, I'm up too late again, I'll stop now.

Bulsajo, I just spent about two minutes staring at your avatar and chuckling. Thanks for the chuckle.
