I'm still back home. My dad's computer has problems. I've cleared out all the viruseses (virii?, whatever) anyway, it refuses to complete windows update with service pack 2. It gets to the part where it is backing up the registry and seems to fail at that point. It seems like, for whatever reason, the registy is write-protected, but only for a few lines. Any idea on how to fix this? (I'd prefer not to format and re-install, but I will if nobody has any better ideas) |

Format. Sorry, but an update with SP2 just clogs up everything.
Slipstream SP2 using "nlite" into your WinXP cd...(tutorial at the nlite website) and do a fresh install.
I did this after the SP2 upgrade, which really bogged down my system.
Now it's clean, mean and lean. |
