i know all about how to keep my children off drugs "it was just a little pot!!!"
the weird thing is that i still don't comprehend farenheit degrees. like the weather just doesn't make any sense to me. |

that's not that wierd. i still don't understand celcius, liters, kilograms etc. oh well....
i like when they get washed up athletes or singers to do a PSA for them. |

| I think after you've been here a while, you just give up trying to convert and learn to "think" in C and liters, kilometers etc. You know that 30C is pretty warm and 0 is pretty cold. 22 is comfortable. 10K to the next town takes about 8 minutes...depending on speed and traffic. |

Being a Canadian born in the late '60s, we switched to metric in the early 70s. It's odd but your ideas of weights and measures get fixed at a very young age.
I'm fairly "bilingual" in metric and f-feet-pounds-which-we-call-imperial-but-americans-call-american. I like to use C for cold temperatures. I like to use F for warm temperatures. Most Canadians in their 30s and older seem to do this. We'll measure our height in feet/inches but distance to Toronto in kilometers (or more peculiarly to Canadians we measure distance in time�� American: it's about 300 miles to the next city Canadian: it's about 4 hours away). We give our weight in pounds but buy your meat in kilograms. |

is there any nice and safe way to ask this?: is she pregnant? lately, i've noticed that her uniform fits a bit tightly--or maybe i didn't notice before because she wasn't the weather girl then. before her, they had a weather guy, which was neat except there was no chemistry between him and the then male anchor. the girls have a nice friendly vibe going now. this matters to me.

I love when the anchor speaks briefly with the weather person. That John Slauser is one smooth cat. "So I hear it's gonna be a cold one this weekend." I think thats all he ever has to say. Then they struggle to make it look as natural as possible before the weather person 'has a look at the map'
