While reading the International Herald Tribune today I came across this article on a women's safety rally that is being organized. http://joongangdaily.joins.com/200410/12/200410122206037679900090409041.html

I have to admit that as a large American male I have little to fear walking the streets at night, but the story got me thinking about the question of whether women, Korean and foreign, feel unsafe at night. I remember taking part in the rallies for campus safety when I was in college, and being shocked at the stories that I would hear. My thought was that women are usually at greater risk at home, with abusive boyfriends and husbands. What do women here think?

I was a little saddened to see that men are not going to be allowed to participate in the event.

Thoughts?

Sounds like it might be a cover for a different kind of rally. Wink

Feint rumblings could be heard in the underground, this is your captain speaking, fasten your seatbelts, we're entering the sixties!

I get slightly jittery once in a while here at night, but it's mostly from a combo of the paranoia that comes from being a woman in a western country, and Koreans total obliviousnes to personal space, not actual danger.
