Day trading is typically frowned upon by everyone in the know. However, I've kept track of a few stocks here in Korea that bounce up and down more than Pamela Anderson's (.) (.)

Example:

Hyundai Mobis. A brilliant company that shot up from its W8000 initial offering to W59,000 in 3 years time. Now, its value fluctuates between W58 and W62 or thereabouts on a nearly daily basis. Obviously, most folks (teachers) don't have thousands of dollars to invest. On the other hand, if you had a few million won lying around (dream on) you could EASILY make several hundred thou a day with virtually no risk.

Point is, there are also much cheaper stocks available whose value fluctuates in the same manner. Easy money.

There is a buying/selling cost, but it depends on how much you're trading.

You need to have a minimum of 50,000 USD to begin investing in Korea directly, unless you want to use a backdoor.

Any one of us is quite capable of setting up an account with a local brokerage and begin buying equities in amounts far smaller than that, which is what I believe the OP was talking about.

If a stock is valued at say W25,000 you can go to any securities company and by a minimum of 10 stocks for a mere W250,000.
