A few friends of mine worked for English Zone when I was in Yosu. They were really happy with the school. Obviously, I haven't worked for them myself, but from what I could see, it's really well run with a lot of emphasis on actual teaching (as opposed to being a baby-sitting service.) I was tempted to work for them myself, but I didn't think I was going to get a letter of release from my psycho director to work for the competition. Laughing

The director is great. He would regularly come out to the hof and norae bang with us. In my opinion, this is one of the top schools to work for in Yeosu.

What exactly do you want to know about Yeosu?

Ex-pat scene was great when I was there (that was three months ago). It's a fairly small community (maybe around 40-50 English teachers, plus quite a few people working in the factories, but they didn't tend to socialize with us.) It's pretty tight knit, though, and we typically went out together one night a week, with a few beach parties etc, in the summer, and we did these big group norae bang sessions together alot. There was also a bowling league, plus a weekly Ultimate Frisbee game. There's a couple of other teachers at English Zone, so I'm sure they'd introduce you to the other foreigners.

Yeosu has a couple of pretty good beaches, and some parks. There's also Odongdo, which is this nice little island you can hike around on, although it's a little touristy. Lots of mountains for climbing (English Zone is fairly close to one of them). There are a couple of movie theatres and one major department store (E-Mart). My favourite bar in Korea is there (the We II soju bar. Actually fairly close to English Zone also).

The bus system is pretty good, and you can also get anywhere in town for about ten thousand won by taxi. A lot of the ex-pats there have motorcycles or scooters.

If there's anything else you'd like to know, just let me know.
