for those of you that don't know about this place, it is home to the air force at the osan base..........shopping wise, it puts itaewon to shame........cheaper, more friendly and a much better vibe.........for those sports fans, you can have made any jersey imaginable........print off a colour copy, place your order and 25, 000 won later, you are wearing the jersey of your sports hero..........also the only place i've found with nhl 2005 for ps2 for the measly price of 12 bucks..........definitely worth the trip.............. |

Yup. Bought it there yesterday. Interesting place...everything listed in American $'s instead of won. Lots of large size clothes, a little of hip hop style casual gear and such...Seems like it would have thrice the potential of Itaewon for violence and such, but I guess the MPs own that like nothing else. Def. not a place for Canadian teachers to go talk politics.
On a completed unrelated note, has anybody experienced any problems in sending home counterfeit goods to friends back home? Say, 20 hats or something like that?
(waiting for the AFN commercial joke) |

Traditionally... the US Air Force..has always had a good relationship with the local community be it in the US or overseas. Osan/Songtan is Air Force. The town was built around the base...the base was "their first." We are talking 1950's. The AF always had the best equipment, new equipment, the best housing, schools, living quarters, etc. The bases are alwys the best kept, clean, etc. and even outside the base...the shopping areas are always great., the local community is supportive, etc.
AF personal seem less troublesome compared to other branches of the military. Which explains the Osan/Songtan area being "better that Itaewon." More user friendly. |

I'm not sure- I was there yesterday too, and bought a blanket- I haggled a little- nothing too hard, but the man was surly, rude and tried to rip me off. |

I feel bad about that. I stayed in bed all day, though, drinking orange juice and sleeping. Actually, all day Friday, too. And Sunday...
Sorry again-- |

You met the suckiest dude in Songtan and you're not sure if the place rocks or not? Did you forget the copious amounts of booze?
I like going to Songtan but it's all off the beaten track. Trains never stop there, buses have to go through crappy Osan traffic first, and driving there sucks if the freeway is backed up. Aside from getting there, nothing but laid back. |
