My current passport has my maiden on it, but I was wondering if I bought my marriage certificate with me, if it would suffice? I have three more years on it.

...would your marriage certificate suffice for what exactly? |

By proving that I am one and the same person as my passport. |

Yes it will suffice (or so I was told at the Canadian Embassy in Seoul). You can also apply to have it legally changed in your passport. I'm not sure how much that will cost. |

I wouldn't knowing how anal both the Australian embassy and Korean bureaucracy can be. Change your name on it before you come...
P.S Your really moving along on this move to Korea hey? More Aussies the merrier. |

Ta Peemil,
we want to be there early next year (mid Jan)...can think of little else just now (as you can tell from the sudden burst onto the discussion forum).
Something tells me that I should get some sort of a change of name thing on it too, otherwise disaster could strike over such a little issue.
Are there many aussies teaching around where you are? |

Well, the easiest thing to do is just go by your maiden name while you're here. |

Dont know if you thought of this, but your degee, what name does that have? Does it match or if you change your passport name, will it match? That might give you a headache... |

The most important thing for immigration/granting of E-2 visas here is that the name on your uni degree exactly matches the name in your passport. |

canuckistan is right. If your uni degree is in your maiden name, then stay with it. Most people here will only know your first name anyway...even your bank account is usually opened with only your first, and possible your middle (depending on length) name. |

Nope,
uni degree is in married name...so change the passport here, or carry the marriage cert (which they may not recognise). Leaning toward changing passport here! |
