|
|
Hey folks,
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good place to paraglide in Korea. I'm thinking of moving over for a while but, I'll need to live close to a good launch site to maintain my sanity.
Any info would be of great assistance in my search for a new place to call home. I know Korea has some great conditions for paragliding but there doesn't seem to be very much info on the net.
Thanks |

I know there's people that paraglide in Cheong Ju, but I wouldn't know how to tell you to get in contact with them, 'cept to go to Sangdangsanseong ( the fortress) and see if they're around. |

There's a big group of them in Ulsan... Lots of mountains. They used to practice on Saturdays down near the river. I used to fly fixed wing gliders and looked into doing paragliding for a bit. |

What's it called when people fly around in those miniature blimps? |

I hear from my paragliding friend that Jeju-do has the best places to go. Apparently the landing areas in Korea are a little sketchy.
There is a company here in Gwangju. contact Jeong at [email protected] |

IG-, I think you're thinking of Chung ju, near Danyang. Cheong Ju is near Daejeon. |

Yeongwol. It's a small city, prit'near a town. Paragliding is really established. The mountaintop launch site can be seen from main street (there's only one main street). The flyers glide over the town. And land at a sports ground the other side of main street.
It's a city, on the map. |

Chang-won (south, west of Busan/Pusan) is well established as well, & easy to get to.
The club there LOVES foreigners, and is based just outside the Uni area.

When you paraglide in the States, the flight often lasts hours, if you can catch a thermal. I don't think they go for that here. I watched a Korean TV program about the sport and the flights seemed to last minutes, not hours. |

There is paragliding in Gwangju, I'm hoping to go soon. They go every sat and sun and you can contact the organisers at [email protected]. I'll let you know what it's like when I've been. |
