I plan to order some medicinal/herbal treatments from the US. What I want consists of various packaged herbal products for natural colon cleansing and parasite killing. The company will ship to South Korea, but it will not guarantee it will get through customs here.
What do you think, based on your knowledge of Korean law as executed by customs agents and the postal system. Will I get it without problems?

| I don't know about colon cleaning products, but I have had all sorts of vitamens and drugs shipped from the US (my packages all go to my school), And never had a problem. whether this is because they think the stuff is for educational purposes and let it go, or because its really okay, I can't tell you. but have fun if it ever gets to you. |

| When I came to Korea I brought a big bottle of multi-vitamins in my suitcase. When my mom came, she brought some tea. There were no problems. It might be different in the mail though. |

| Don't know if this helps but in September I had a shipment of nutritional supplements for my mother-in-law sent directly to their home under my name. The U.S. company I purchased the items from had the same kind of customs disclaimer as you described. It came through with no problems. |

As the poster above stated, when it doubt, get things shipped to your school. Make the addy clear that it's a school and give your name on the package as
John Smith, TEACHER
I'm sure your placebo effect pills will make it thru no probs. |

The herbs and stuff arrived with no--or minimal-- problems. Thanks to those of you with helpful posts/replies. I did get hit with a customs tax that was 1/4 the declared value of the items which were declared as "dietary supplements" by the company from whom I bought them.
As to whether these herbs, supplements, and tea are "placebo effect pills", I shall see. The effects should be relatively easy to qualify. |

| Of course they'll let in vitamins and tea. I've had lots shipped here. Most of the vitamins found in Korean multi-vitamins are imported from Japan or the US before being packaged here. The even sell foreign brands like Jameson's and Centrums. |

Really? Placebo effect means something appears to work. But it ends up not being the active substance but the mind's belief it will work. Unless you run a double blind experiment with a reasonable sample size and control for the placebo effect, you can't easily "qualify" the herb maker's claims. Can you? |
