Hello all...

Wondering if anyone out there knows about korean legal matters and could help me out.

More than 6 years ago I got a job in Daegu. It was a nightmare from day one ( details unneccessary - I'm sure you've heard the stories ) and I did a midnight run at the end of the first month. I don't regret it. I had great experiences teaching in Taiwan and China thereafter.

But, I'm thinking of returning to Korea to teach again. When I was there I had nothing against Koreans or Korea, I just hated the reprehensible school I worked for.

So, my question is: CAN I RETURN TO WORK IN KOREA AFTER 6 YEARS ABSENCE OR AM I BLACKLISTED FOR LIFE?

IS THERE A STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS ON SUCH INFRACTIONS AS SKIPPING OUT ON A CONTRACT?

Any advice will be appreciated, and snide comments about my method of leaving Korea will be ignored.

Thanking all advice-givers in advance,

Yours,,,

Jimbo[/b]

You shouldn't have any problem coming back, especially after 6 years. Although immigration may have a record of your arrival and departure in Korea, no one will remember who you are or what you did (unless you torched the school).

People often run from contracts without a letter of release and return to Korea after their first work visa expires.

You are asking the wrong people for advice pal. The ONLY folks who can give you a CORRECT answer is immigration. Period.
Not even the korean embassy can answer your question. An embassy will issue a visa if you fill out the form, pay some money and have a valid passport...they don't check with immigration about any blacklist. The form you fill out always ask...have you visited korea before...list the dates, etc.
Now...you can lie and maybe it slips by them. You can tell the truth and still it slips by them.
But again...the ONLY people who can answer you correctly is immigration.
When you arrive at the airport and check in at the immigration counter...you'll find out. What is the worse that can happen? Deportation.
Chances are you'll have no problem entering korea.

Once the period covered by your previous visa is expired you should have no problems at all returning to Korea. As long as you did nothing illegal there is no reason for it to be on file at all.

Absolutely no problem. Lots have run from bad situations to return even a day or two later.
