Hey Cheonan teachers! I'm sorry for not posting this sooner, as I've had the information for a couple weeks. Hey--at least you have a week to figure out if you want to come.
Cheonan does have KOTESOL conferences every month, and I think they started just a couple months ago. Last time there were over 50 teachers, so it looks like lots of people are coming.
Anyway, after this month's meeting, a local International chuch is sponsoring a Thanksgiving dinner, which you're more than welcome to stay and enjoy. (I know I will.)
To get to the Korea Nazarene University:
take a taxi and say: "Nazarette tae hawk yo"
or take buses 104 or 5 from the front of yawoori/bus terminal. Both of them finish their routes at KNU.
KNU is in Ssang-yong-dong, very close to Lotte Mart (5 minute walk)
Feel free to pm me, and to contact Susan Kim if you are going to join the dinner (asap, so they can have enough food). Hope to see some of you there!

KOTESOL means Korea Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. It is a national non-profit organization. Here is the national website http://www.kotesol.org/index.shtml
There are many chapters in Korea. The Daejeon-Chungnam chapter can be accessed here:
http://www.kotesol.org/daejeon/ Each chapter has monthly meetings. Daejeon-Chungnam's meetings are the first Saturday of each month.
In Cheonan, there will be special seminars 4 times a year.
The next special seminar will be on Saturday November 27th from 2:00- 5:30pm at KNU (Korea Nazarene University) in Nazarene Hall, fifth floor.
Two publishers, Oxford University Press and Cambridge, will have bookstalls with discounted prices. A raffle with book prizes will follow the seminars.
There will be two sessions and three speakers to choose from.
Session 1's speakers will be: (3:00-3:50)
Session 2's speakers will be: (4:10 - 5:00)
For more details see: http://www.kotesol.org/daejeon/
After the meetings/seminars everyone ususally goes out for dinner. Our church, KNU Internation English Congregation has invited everyone attending the KOTESOL seminar to join their annual Thanksgiving dinner at 6:00pm in the Love Building of KNU. RSVPs should be sent to me: [email protected] |

| I'd be interested if I was either in Cheonan, or had nothing going on for Turkey Day. |

Well, anyone can go to a KOTESL meeting, but every area in Korea has their own meetings. Our chapter is the Chungnam-do/Dae-Jeon area.
If someone from Seoul wanted to come, there's no reason they couldn't. It'd be a good way to meet people living in another part of Korea, and get some good information about teaching ideas, etc.
If you look at the website, it tells what the guest speakers are going to talk about. There are 2 sessions, and you can choose between 3 speakers each time.
I do have a couple friends who are coming from Seoul, but almost everyone will be from Chungnam area, I would think. If you want to come, go for it.
I was hoping a lot of the teachers from Cheonan and the surrounding areas would see this and be interested. I guess not. |

KOTESOL is great--I encourage everyone to join. The national conference at Sook Dae was full of great ideas and publishers' freebies.
justagirl:
I am interested in coming to the meeting, and I even talked at length to Aaron Jolly--great prez!--about it. But I have a TESOL course that day (so my students, several of whom are members, won't be there either).
I won't attend the dinner cause I don't really do thanksgiving. |

| I'll go. I just haven't been checking out the forums lately. Is that the place your husband and I went that one day? |

| Probably. A group of guys play soccer there every Sunday afternoon, though they'll be stopping soon as it's getting pretty cold. |
