|
|
I have been offered a job with a university. The basics are 1.82 a month (after deductions, single accomodation, 8 weeks vacation a year, 20 hours a week).
They are in a hurry for me to sign the contract, which has me a bit worried.
I have read a lot of stuff on public schools, and I was wondering how to go about finding a position?
Should I just take the uni job, or should I try and get a public school position?
Thoughts? |

Kinda like comparing apples and oranges...depends on what you want.
Hours? Your Uni gig will be better-most public schools keep you in from 9-5ish. (though you teach 20 hours)
Kids or Adults? Kids can be alot more fun, but also discipline can be a pain in the ass.
Vacation? Depends on the sit. My gig gives me almost 4 months vacation..which is more than 3/4 my uni friends.
Pay? Public schools pay better, but still keep in mind the privates you teach.
Universities are often seen as the holy of holy ESL jobs here....so most people will steer you that way. I myself like public school, and would do it again.
Check out Workandplay....(cant remember the address exact). Saw a few offerings on there.
Good luck |
