So there are plenty of places to buy computers in my city, . I wouldn't be too adverse to buying one from one of the little stores in the area, if it was more only a bit more expensive than buying one in Seoul. I know how to build my own but... buying all the parts seperately would be a real hassle as I can't speak Korean (yet!).

Is the cost prohibitive? In any random small city in Korea? I'm finding some interesting things out about the higher than expected prices of video game consoles, maybe computer prices are the same idea.

I've been thinking about buying a nice Samsung LCD monitor and an average desktop, selling the desktop for a big loss when I leave and bringing the monitor with me on the plane to whereever I go next.

Your thoughts on this exciting topic...

My 3rd of 4 new topics in the Tech Forum is the weakest I know.

Wel, I would expect to pay a bit more being outside of Seoul....they don't barter as well. I probably wouldn't shop locally for building my own system, as parts wouldn't be avaliable. Actually, I bet this will apply to buying a system as well....don't expect to get exactly what you want (that is, if you are particular).

Persoanlly, I would get a friend to call a store in Seoul and order what I want, pay the small delivery charge, and be done with it. danawa.co.kr lists all of the stores and the telephone numbers.

Then again, if you are going to dump it when you leave, you might want to buy a used system from one of those local newspapers for used things like cars, appliances and computers. They are on every corner...a free paper. A used system will cost much less and be less painful when you ditch it.
