I downloaded Norton Ghost 9.0 and successfully installed it, but after making a copy of my complete system onto a second drive I realize now that I need either a bootable Ghost 9.0 CD or a "System Recovery Disk" supplied with Norton SystemWorks 2005 to restore data from a backup image from boot.

The problem is that I can't make a bootable disk with Ghost 9.0 because I don't have a boot image to burn onto and I don't have a Recovery Disk.

Ghost 9.0 is different from Ghost 2003, whereas in Ghost 2003 allowed you to make a boot disk and the Ghost 9.0 CD is the boot disk.

Anybody have a Ghost 9.0 bootable disk or a Recovery Disk.I would gladly pay you back.

From the Symantec site about the new features of Ghost 9.0:
Quote:
"Hot imaging lets you create backup images without restarting Windows.

Incremental backup updates save time and disk space.

Scheduled backups automatically keep your backup image up to date.

I've got a new file on download that says "bootable", but we'll see if it's true as it says.

Perhaps the unwritten question here is- do you really need to be using Ghost 9?

Do the advantages it offers outweigh the hassle of getting the recovery disk you need (I would think it would be created system-specific by the program, but I don't really know).

If you can't get the recovery disk you need why not uninstall 9 and download an earlier version of Ghost?

I also use 2003. Only had to use it in a 'real world' (rather than test) situation once and it performed as promised.

We posted at the same time so I missed this. Those sound pretty good- can it do incremental to a DVD-RAM disk?

No, it does not support RAM drives.Sad

I may try Ghost 2003 later if everything else fails, but I'm somewhat worried about compatibility problems with the base backup (.v2i) made with Ghost 9.0.

Ok, so I've tried all possible methods that I know of when trying to make a bootable Norton Ghost 9.0 CD.I've only made one bootable CD when I slipstreamed sp2 into Windows XP and from my experience I learned that a bootable CD need an Image file or it won't boot from the CD, but there's no Image file I can find in my downloads.I can make a DOS boot from Nero, but I know nothing about DOS.Am I ok up to here?Is there anyway to make a bootable Norton Ghost 9.0 for a full system recovery?I'd go out to the store and pick up the real thing, but I'm afraid they may not even have it there now.Anyone have any suggestions on how to make it boot?
